Fresh fruit and vegetable juicing provides a number of cancer-fighting benefits.  Fresh juice yields high levels of "live" enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, all in a form that is easily digested and transported into the bloodstream.

The National Cancer Institute now recommends that we consume at least 5 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables each day.  Less than 25% of Americans eat the suggested amount each day.  For many decades, fresh fruit and vegetable juices have been part of a nutritional protocol to build immune resistance and fight cancer.

Benefits of Juicing for Cancer

1) Immune Enhancement

A healthy immune system is essential in the fight against cancer.   Even in a healthy state, our bodies create hundreds of thousands of cancer cells each day.  Under normal circumstances, a healthy immune system is able to target and eliminate these cancer cells before they gain a foothold in the body.

Freshly juiced fruits and vegetables provide nutrient dense liquid that will be high in chlorophyll, beta carotene, vitamin C, and minerals like potassium, calcium, and magnesium.  Cruciferous vegetables like kale, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and collard greens contain very powerful anti-cancer properties.

2) Antioxidant Qualities - Free Radical Neutralizing

Cancer patients are subjected to a large increase in the number of free radicals as a side-effect from their medical treatment that can include radiation and chemotherapy.  Free radicals are groups of atoms with an unpaired number of electrons.  When they come into contact with cells in the body they can damage or destroy the cell.

Antioxidants are molecules that can safely interact with free radicals and neutralize them.  The principle antioxidants are Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and beta carotene, although there are dozens more to be found in fresh juice.

3) Fights Malnutrition

Cancer patients are usually malnourished.  Malignant tumors induce a hyper metabolic state that requires a greater intake of calories than a healthy individual.  Also tumors secrete a substance which suppresses the appetite.  Chemotherapy and radiation therapy can cause anorexia and are sufficient biological stresses to induce malnutrition.  In some cases chemotherapy can cause nausea and poor eating habits.

Fresh juice has extremely high levels of nutrients including proteins.  Drinking a glass of juice several times daily can provide the body with important nutrition to combat malnutrition.

4) Improved Energy and Stamina

Cancer patients often complain about low energy levels and fatigue.  Freshly prepared juices are high in blood building nutrients such as Vitamin B12, iron and magnesium.  These nutrients are important in building red blood cells and increasing the capacity of the red blood cells to transport oxygen.  Again, having a glass of juice several times a day can help balance blood sugar drop and improve energy and stamina.

5) Detoxification

In today's increasingly toxic world the importance of detoxification is critical to a cancer patient.  All of us are exposed to a wide range of toxins from our environment and also from the foods we eat.  Our bodies struggle under the burden of a buildup of toxins that lodge in our cells, tissues, and organs.

Even though our bodies are designed to eliminate toxins as part of its self-regulation mechanisms it becomes increasingly difficult for the cancer patient.

Fortunately, fresh juices can rid the body of toxins because of the abundance of nutrients that have powerful detoxification properties.  All green vegetables contain enzymes, chlorophyll, and other nutrients that help cleanse and detoxify the body.
